Discovering Vaal’s talent

VANDERBIJLPARK – On Wednesday nights, patrons of J&B Pub are treated to musical performances by singers participating in “South Africa’s Got Talent”.

This competition is already in its sixth week and there are three heats left before the semifinal on May 5. The final, during which the 18 finalists will perform, takes place on May 8.

According to Rudy Fourie, owner of RFP Music Promotions, the competition can be a launching pad for a singer’s career. The winner of the competition will receive an album sponsorship to the value of R20 000. The runner-ups in both the male and female categories will each receive backtracks sponsored by RFP Music Promotions.

“One day the winner can look back and say it all started with ‘South Africa’s Got Talent’”, says Fourie. He has over 21 years of experience in the music industry and judges the competition alongside Tobie Schalkwyk.
Twelve contestants can compete per heat. Who competes when is based on a first-come-first-serve basis. Each contestant must sing two songs. Two men and two woman are chosen per heat to move on to the semifinal round.

On April 15, the contestants who made it through to the next round were Shandré Henning, Annelie Terblanche, Louw van Rensburg and Anthony Hawkins.

Those interested in participating in “South Africa’s Got Talent” can sign up at the J&B Pub every Wednesday from 19:00. Entries close at 21:00.
