Top Detective Recognised

SASOLBURG. – A local police officer Detective Warrant Officer Thekiso Serobe was honoured for a job well done. Through his  efforts, he managed to trace and arrest three suspects in different crimes. The Sasolburg Court recently convicted these suspects and sentenced them.
Joseph Qinimuzi Mthimkhulu (34) was sentenced to 15 years for murder and six months for assault with the intent to do grievous bodily harm.
On January 1, the accused had an argument with people watching the group from the initiation school, singing. He hit the deceased, Phuthi Ramosi (21) on the head with a knobkierie. Phuthi died in hospital on January 5.
In another incident he arrested Thabang Mathaha (27) and Lehlohonolo van Rooyen (20) for armed robbery, rape and sexual assault.
On August 10 of 2010, both accused went to a house in Walter Sisulu where ladies were playing cards.
They knocked at the door and told them they were looking for Lehlohonolo’s mother.
When the ladies opened the door, the thugs pointed a gun at them, took their money and sexually assaulted them.
Mathaha was sentenced to 18 years on six counts of sexual assault, 15 years for armed robbery and 10 years imprisonment for rape. Van Rooyen was sentenced to 10 years for armed robbery.
Sasolburg Cluster Commander Brigadier Ontiretse Mocwaledi said he appreciated the hard work of Serobe to stop violence in the cluster.
