There are about 3,4 million people worldwide – men, women and children – who suffer from poor vision. In response to this, eyewear will be collected.
Leapfrog in Vanderbijlpark approached local schools for help and the following schools were willing to participate: Vaalrivier Primary School, DF Malherbe Primary School, Oliver Lodge Primary School, Sancta Maria Primary School and Parkridge Primary School.
Leapfrog would like to thank all the above-mentioned schools for their willingness to take part in the drive. The following prizes were handed over to the winning schools and are available to reward the pupils for their hard work.
They were:
R1 000 for the pupils who collect the most eyewear: Amorette Roets – Vaalrivier Primary School with a total of 97 glasses.
R1 000 for the class that collects the most eyewear: Grade 2B class – DF Malherbe Primary School with a total of 180 glasses.
R1 000 for the school that collects the most eyewear: DF Malherbe Primary School with a total of 510 glasses.
The prizes were sponsored by Leapfrog in Vanderbijlpark and Steyn, Lyell and Maeyane Attorneys. A total of 803 pairs of spectacles were collected country-wide.
