MEYERTON. – The 2011 Midvaal Chamber of Commerce Business of the Year Competition was jointly won by Eye of Africa Deve-lopments and African Pegmatite.
This sought-after accolade will be shared by the two companies as deserved winners in their own right.
The finalists in the 2011 competition were:
– Manufacturing
Blitz Ready Mix, African Pegmatite, A2Z Lifting Equipment, Calcoat and Bellow Weld, with African Pegamatite being the winner in this category and also the overall winner.
– Retail
Model Bottle Store, Meyerton Pick n Pay, Meyerton Multisave and KFC Meyerton. Model was crowned the retail winner.
– Service Delivery
Futuris Guarding Systems, Van der Walt Pharmacy and XXX Exhaust with Futuris and Van der Walt joint winners.
– New Entrepreneur
Be Smart Car Wash, Senoritas and Spur Meyerton, with B Smart being the winner
– Hospitality & Tourism
Montaques Wine Bar, Sure Zorgvliet Tra-vel, Eye of Africa Golf Estate and Plaaskombuis, with Eye of Africa named the winner and overall Business of the Year.
– Other Sectors
Destinata Skool, the Oprah Winfrey Lea-dership Academy for Girls, Sedibeng Bre-weries and VCR 90.6 FM Stereo, with Destinata School walking off with the prize.
The Midvaal chamber of commerce will have its AGM early next year and will also start with networking sessions every second month, the first of which will be held in February 2012.
