National Cupcake Day, an initiative that was born in the Vaal Triangle, is celebrated nationally on September 28 and all money raised on the day helps give a child a fighting chance against cancer.
Childhood Cancer is relatively rare, representing about 1% of cancers in the total population in South Africa. Cupcakes 4 Kids with Cancer is a non-profit company that aims to create awareness and raise funds for children suffering from cancer – but they need your help!
Are you an avid baker? Now is your opportunity to be part of National Cupcake Day. Take out your baking trays, whip out the butter and keep that family member with a sweet tooth away from the kitchen. It is a labour of love and an easy way to make a difference and care for kids who desperately need it. Become a Cupcake Angel by baking and donating 48 cupcakes at any of the 45 malls in 23 cities across South Africa on National Cupcake Day. All you need to do after this is encourage your friends to enjoy your sweet delights at the mall by donating R10 for a delicious cupcake.
“We can all work together on this to help a worthy cause and give in to our sweet tooth,” says Sandy Cipriano, Vereeniging businesswoman and founder of Cupcakes for Kids with Cancer, which is now taking the whole country by storm.
